January Favourites // 2015

I can't believe that I am writing my first favourites of 2015. Its weird to think that the first month is almost over. I swear we have only just had Christmas but I guess time flies when your having fun right? Anyway, for this post I have pulled together my favourites from the month of January to share with you. I have picked a mixture of skincare, makeup and other random things. I haven't really any the time to buy any new products since Christmas apart from within the last week so I haven't really tried any new products, however I have been rediscovering old products that I totally forgot about.

Simple Deep Cleansing Face Mask
Over Christmas, I didn't use a single face mask and believe me when I say I know how bad that is. I was at home during the holidays and just didn't have the time or energy to crack out or apply a face mask. However when I arrived back at University and stopped crying, I decided to cheer up by applying a face mask and this was the Simple Deep Cleansing Mask. I had forgotten how good this stuff is. After I used it, my face just looked healthy, happier and had that glow about it. I try to use it every couple of days now and I have seen a world of difference since using it again. What's more this mask is cheap and can be brought in Superdrug or Boots.

The Body Shop 'Coconut' Hand Cream
I didn't know whether to add a hand cream to my favourites but I have enjoyed it so I thought why not. I received this  hand cream for Christmas and loved the coconut scent it has. During the winter months, my hands become dry but often I don't use a hand cream because they can be so greasy and oily but this one is different. This hand cream is moisturising yet non greasy and leaves my hands feeling hydrated and soft. If your looking for a hand cream that moisturisers and leaves them smelling like a tropical island than you may want to try this.

Soap & Glory Supercat Liner
I can't remember if I have included this in a monthly favourites or not so I thought I would include it anyway. I used to use the Rimmel Eyeliner everyday but in August I picked up this Soap and Glory Eyeliner and now I love it. This Supercat Liner is thick and contains a pen like nib. This means it is easier to apply and creates a beautiful thick cat affect. One thing to point out is that this liner isn't waterproof which isn't great but amazing for removing at the end of the day. If you aren't very good at applying liner than I would suggest trying this.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo 'On and On Bronze'
I am not going to lie when I say I have become eye lazy. I either use a colour tattoo or an eyeshadow stick. However the one I use the most is the colour tattoo in 'On and One Bronze'. I love a good bronze eye and this one creates a natural look by creating shade around the eye and making it look smoky. I found that other colour tattoos aren't great at blending however this bronze shade is different because it blends without a problem and looks amazing. Seriously, it is worth a try if your as lazy as me.

Barry M Jelly Hi-Shine 'Sugar Apple'
When I was going through my nail polish collection, I found this one and I fell in love with it again. I know it is a more spring shade but I couldn't help myself. I wore this shade loads last summer but felt the need to inject a bit of colour into my life again after wear black and grey nails for months. I'm not lying when I say that at least five people randomly commented on how great my nail polish was. I would describe this shade as a light mint green shade a lot like Essie's Mint Green and in fact I would say that it is a dupe.

Favourite TV of a Month
After finishing all ten seasons of Grey's Anatomy and watching all ten episodes of How To Get Away With Murder I felt the need to check out the other show that the brilliant Shonda Rhimes created. I saw Scandal on Amazon and I thought why not try it and then watched about five episodes straight. Yes, I became addicted. I love this tv because it is dramatic but has an amazing love triangle which I love and contains some good looking guys.

My last favourite for this month comes from Meghan Trainor and is my favourite album of the month. I have been listening to 'Lips are Movin' and 'Dear Future Husband' on repeat and I just love her and her voice. These tracks are amazing for dancing around your room to and often make me if happier and plus they are brilliant gym workout songs.

Can you believe that January is almost over? I swear I have blinked and this month has gone. I hope you have enjoyed this favourites post and that you had a great January and hopefully you are keeping up your new years goals.

What have been your January Favourites?

January Drugstore Haul

I went into town with my mum the other day and walked into Superdrug and noticed that I haven't been make up shopping in ages so I went around shop picking up a couple of things. I personally just love walking around Superdrug and seeing what new products they have in stock and what products I would like to try. I generally shop in Superdrug over Boots where I live because I find that Superdrug has more Make up and and Beauty products than my Boots does. Anyway I thought why not share with you what products I picked up...

Maybelline Colour Tattoo 'Vintage Plum' Leather Effect
I own four other colour tattoos and use them daily however when I was in Superdrug, I noticed that they had this leather effect colour tattoo. I don't if these are new to the UK but I had never seen them before and of course being the beauty blogger I am , I said to myself, I am getting this, purely for review reasons. One of the many excuses I use to buy more make up I don't need. Anyway, from first looks, it seems like a lovely dark smoky purple colour which I personally love, and I haven't had time to try it yet but expect a review very soon.

Nivea Lip Butter 'Vanilla & Macadamia'
I own two other lip butters yet I still found the need to buy another one. I do actually have a reason for this. I often travel back and forth from University back home and I always forget to bring my lip butter  with me so I ended up buying another one to leave at home. I own the raspberry and blueberry one so I decided to try a new one and picked the Vanilla and Macadamia. This lip butter smells amazing and is very hydrating. These lip butters cost around £2-3 and are worth every penny. I love these lip butters and haven't found any other that compares for the same price.

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine 'Rose Hip' & 'Guava'
My favourite drugstore nail polishes come from Barry M in their Gelly Hi Shine Range. They are so thick and shiny and last for weeks. I own many of the colours but because I am so excited for spring to roll around, I picked up a couple of colours that I feel may be suitable for spring. These colours were 'Rose Hip' which is a light baby pink colour and 'Guava' which is mix between mint green and blue. I have been thinking about getting 'Rose Hip' for a while but kept putting it off but in the end I gave in and brought it. It may look white from a far but trust me is a light baby pink. I love anything mint green so when I saw 'Guava' I fell in love with the blue and green tones it has and it went straight into my basket.

CoLab Dry Shampoo 'Rio' Extreme Volume
A couple of months ago, I brought the normal CoLab dry shampoo in the scent 'New York' and have used it so much. It is great because it makes greasy hair look easier to deal with. I love how it doesn't leave white stuff in my hair either. Because of this, I picked up the Extreme Volume in the scent 'Rio'. I'm not sure whether it is a new addition to the range but my hair needs all the volume it can possibly get. I wanted this scent because Miss Budget Beauty raved about it and the packaging on the Extreme Volume looks amazing and very sleek. Hopefully I will be doing a full review on this soon so stay turned.

That is everything I popped into my basket while in Superdrug. These are just products that I fancied trying and hope that you found it interesting. If you guys have any suggestions of what products I should try next, please feel free to leave them in the comments and don't forget to follow me on twitter and bloglovin!

Have you tried these products before? What did you think of them?

Going Out or Staying In?

I was watching one of Carrie Hope Fletcher's video on her amazing channel 'Itswaypastmybedtime' (you should really check it out!) and came across one of her other videos called 'That One Wild Night...' and you can watch it here. The video talked about going out and staying in and this got me thinking that everyone my age and everyone around me goes out almost every night and yet I am currently curled up in a ball in the world's fluffiest dressing grown while watching TV. As a university student, a lot of people expect me to go out and drink every night but this couldn't be further from the truth.

If your a university student, I'm sure your know what freshers are but if you don't, it is basically where there are events every night and everyone goes and gets very drunk for about 2 weeks. Now as a first year, there was a bit of pressure to go to these events and I can honestly say I didn't go out. Out of 2 weeks worth of events, I went to one and I didn't enjoy it that much and to be honest I just wanted to curl up and watch TV or read a book.

Now I don't want to say that going out and drinking is bad or wrong because everyone has there own choices and their own ways of having. However what I took awhile  to understand is that everyone has their own way of relaxing and having happy. This may be going out, drinking, watching tv, writing blog posts, watching movies, chilling out with family, reading a book or blogs.

Sometimes I feel that I'm a 50 year old women trapped inside a 19 year old body. When people ask me if I'm going out and going to dance, meet guys and drink until I pass out, I can't think of a worse night. My perfect night includes junk food, tv shows or movies and my sister to cuddle with. Sometines I feel that there is so much pressure and expectation for you to go and being social.

I don't think that you have to go out and drink to 'be social' but rather just hanging out with friends. Whether it is going to movies, shopping, going to the restaurant, going to the beach or just hanging out with family. Sometimes I wonder if I am the only person who would rather spend a night in and not go out and drink.

Are you a going out or staying in type of person?

Topshop Blusher 'Good Girl'

I have always heard so much good stuff about the Topshop make up range but have never had the chance to try any, that is until now. I recently brought a blush from their range in the shade 'Good Girl'. This is a light bright pink colour and is a powder blush. I first heard about this blush from Fleurdeforce and I fell in love with the colour when I tested it in store and had to pick it up.

The Topshop powder blushes are very pigmented and blend well however it is fairly easy to go overboard. I normally apply this blush to the apples of my cheeks and only the smallest amount is needed to create the flushed look. One thing that I didn't realise when I brought it was this blush contain some glitter which doesn't really come across as much in the photos. However the glitter doesn't make you look like a vampire and is a rather subtle glitter.

One thing that Topshop make up is well known for is there packaging and I have to say that it is amazing. Although white packaging can be hard to keep clean, it doesn't get dirty and the little black dots in a cute touch. The blush is in a compact and a mini mirror inside and fits into a make up bag perfectly. I would highly recommend trying this blush because it is great quality and is fairly cheap. These are just my thoughts and don't forget to follow me on bloglovin and twitter!

Have you tried this blusher before?

Skincare Empties

Its that time again when I go through my skincare empties and show you what products I have used up and whether I would buy it again. I have a range of products from moisturisers to wipes and I personally love reading these type of posts and I thought why not share my skincare rubbish with you...

The first products are cleansers and come from the drugstore,. I finished the Ganier Micellar Cleansing Water and I can say that I will definitely be buying this again. This is because it is one of the best cleansing waters I have ever used because it takes my make up off without stringing or upsetting my skin. The other cleanser comes from No7 and is their Beautiful Skin Cleansing Balm. This isn't the best cleanser I have ever used but it does the job and removes dirt and make up from my face. However, the smell of the cleanser is rather strong and may not be to everyone's taste and I don't think I will be buying this cleanser again.

The next two products I have used up come from Simple and are their Hydrating Light Moisturiser and Replenishing Rich Moisturiser. I first tried the Hydrating Light Moisturiser and I didn't really see any improvement in my skin but decided to finish it anyway. However I was shocked when I tried Replenishing Rich Moisturiser because I didn't realise how dry my face was. I really love the Replenishing Rich Moisturiser because it is gentle, hydrating and doesn't upset my skin.

The next two products aren't technically skincare items but I thought I would add them and they are a mini  conditioner and hand cream. I brought a mini size of the TREsemme Conditioner to use when I went on a weekend holiday but it turned out I loved it because it made my hair feel smooth and soft and smells amazing. I finished the Hand Food by Soap and Glory and I can't say I will be buying it again because the smell was over bearing at times and is rather greasy.

The last skincare product is the Nivea Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes that are my favourite becuse they remove mascara and make up quickly without stringing my skin. I don't normally use wipes unless it is to remove eye liner that has gonewrong or eyeshadow that I don't like.

That's all of my rubbish and I hope you found it interesting. These are just my thoughts on the products and they may work differently for you. Don't forget to follow me on bloglovin and twitter!

What Skincare products have you been using lately ?

Everyday Staples // January

Ever wanted to know what products have been my staples over the last couple of days? Well if so, this is the post for you because I'm going to share with you a few products that are fairly new to my everyday staples collection. These are my January Everyday Staples and is a collection of products that I can't stop using. I picked a couple of lip products, an eye product, nail polish and bronzer...

 Barry M Lash Vegas Mascara
A mascara that I have been using a lot over the last couple of days has been Lash Vegas mascara by Barry M. I originally brought this because it was on sale and I needed a waterproof mascara but since then I have been using it regularly, and it has quickly become one of my favourites. It gives volume but doesn't make me look like I'm wearing false lashes but gives a more natural look. Another thing to note is that this mascara doesn't require tugging to remove unlike other waterproof mascaras.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo 'Metallic Pomegranate'
My eyeshadow base of choice comes from Maybelline and is one of their colour tattoos. It is 'Metallic Pomegrante' which is a red wine colour that is perfect for winter. I love using it at the moment because I am currently on a break and am becoming a bit lazy with the make up. Because of this, the colour tattoo takes about 1 minute to apply and blend and then your good to go. If your starting out in make up or you do your make up on the go then these cream eyeshadows are perfect for you.

Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer
I'm sure that you have seen me writing about this bronzer before but it is so good. The actual bronzer is amazing and is the perfect colour for me. I love swiping across my cheeks to give it that more bronze look. It gives it that natural bronzed look instead of looking like you went overboard with the fake tan. This packaging isn't my favourite, however it is thin and is perfect for slipping into your make up bag when you are travelling.

Nivea Lip Butter 'Blueberry Blush'
Every night before I go to bed, I apply the Nivea Lip Butter in Blueberry Blush. Doing this, leaves my lips feeling smooth and soft and ready for lipstick. This lip butter is the best I have ever tried and smells like blueberry heaven. It really moisturises my lips and during the winter months, it is very important to moisturise the lips. This lip butter is thick and can take awhile to sink in which is why I often use it before I go to bed.

Barry M  Nail Polish 'Berry Cosmo'
A nail polish that I have been in love with in the last couple of days would have to Barry M's Berry Cosmo which is a dark red wine colour. I love wearing this on its own or with glitter if I am feeling very festive and glittery. Either way, this nail polish is a winner in my heart and is well worth a try. The formula of Barry M nail polishes is long lasting and this nail polish is no different.

That's all of my everyday staples for now. I hope you found this useful and interesting and if so I might do more of these posts in the further. These are just my own thoughts about these products and they work different with others. Don't forget to follow me on Bloglovin and Twitter to stay updated!

What are your everyday staples at the moment?

My Perfect Nude Lip

I have been rocking one lip colour recently and that is my perfect nude lip. I personally love rocking a nude lip because you don't have to worry about the lipstick transferring to your teeth and isn't bold and is comfortable to wear. Loads of people have been raving about the nude lip and creating the 90s nude colour lip and of course I felt the need to jump on board and create my own nude lip and if you want to know how I create my personal nude lip then here we go...

The first thing I do is apply a lip liner. I feel that applying a lip liner before hand really adds to the effect of the nude lip. I picked the Rimmel Exaggerate Lipliner in Eastend Snob and this really prepares my lips and gives the lips an outline. This lip liner is great because it doesn't dry out my lips and matches my lips perfectly and it very to easy to apply. You can buy these in Superdrug or Boots.

After I have applied the lip liner, I go in with the L'oreal Glam Shine Stain Splash in the shade '101 Lolita' which is a darker nude colour. I love this lipgloss because it doesn't move or transfer onto other surfaces and remains glossy throughout the day. This combination of lip liner and lipgloss is perfect and makes me feel a bit like Kylie Jenner. The L'oreal Glam Shine Stain Splash is great if you don't want to reapply throughout the day and makes the lips look glossy and shiny. These can also be brought from the drugstore.

And that's how you create my personal nude lip and I love it. This is just the way I create it and you can create and change it however you want. I hope you enjoyed and found it interesting. Don't forget to follow me on twitter and bloglovin!

What's your favourite product to use for a nude lip look?

Exam Anxiety & Stress // How I Deal With It

As I am writing this post, I have one week until my first exam at university. This fact scares the living day light out of me. I have been thinking about writing this post for some time but at this moment in time, I am very nervous and anxious and feel the need to talk about it so do bear with.

Every time I hear the word 'Exam' my heart rate increases and I feel very sick. Just the word sends me into nervous wreak and it often affects me really badly. My anxiety often makes me study until I fall asleep and or until I end up crying down the phone to my mum. I am not going to lie when I say that have been worrying about this exam for the last two months. Yes two months!

When I ask others around me if they have started revising for the exam, they say that they haven't thought about it let alone open a textbook or write revision cards which is crazy to me. Sometimes I feel like the only person who gets nervous and anxious about exams. However because I have had to deal with this during sixth form I have come up with a couple of ways to help and I thought why not share them...

1. Get Out and Take a Break
During a exam period, I often end up studying from the minute I wake up to the moment I fall asleep. However after about 2 weeks of that, I am so drained and that's where my first technique comes in. If you have having a study day, then take breaks such as going to Starbucks and grabbing a coffee or going out for a run. Believe me, this will leave you refreshed and ready to study.

2. Study with Friends
Most people who don't study seem to say it is because they find it boring and I often suffer with this. So to solve this, I often text friends and ask to meet up and have a study session together. I often find these the best ways of studying because you learn so much while enjoying yourself. I had a study session the other day and I never laughed so much in my life. Try it! Grab friends and study.

 3. Turn off Everything & Focus
Slightly different from my last two points, when you get around to studying, turn off your phone, laptop, computer and TV. Turn off everything that will cause you to lose focus. If this means going to the library than so be it. Doing this will help you to focus and take in as much as possible.

4. Be Comfortable
There is nothing worse than sitting in tight jeans trying to study (yes I have been there before). When I study, I often put on tracksuit pants or sweatpants and often sit on the sofa. Just find what is comfortable and crack on and study. However this doesn't meant, sit in your PJs in bed studying because that won't work either. This also applies to the exam itself. Wear clothes that you are comfortable in such as hoodies, leggings and converses.

5. Breath and Take Your Time
One of the important points and I am often reminded of this. During and before exams, I get very nervous and my breathing becomes heavier and faster. This is bad because it can often lead to a panic attack which is not what you want. Just breath and try to hear yourself breath. Count your breathes. Take your time, don't panic and pretend your doing a past paper in your room.

6. Don't Over Think It
I am that person who reads a question and then comes up with a answer before than questioning myself. Its ok to think twice about an answer and check it but don't think about the answer for half an hour because that won't help.

These are my top six tips of how I deal with stress and anxiety that comes with exams. These are just my tips and tricks and they may not work for everyone. Exam is a stressful and nervous time and it is only human to worry and be nervous. I often find these hard to follow but when it gets bad these tips really help. If you are sitting exams whether it be, GCSEs, A Levels, IB, University or something else, good luck and if you have any tips about how to deal with it, leave them in the comments!

Does this ever happen to you? Do you ever get anxious about exams?

My 2014 Skincare Favourites

The final part of my 2014 favourites are my skincare favourites. I have included face and body skincare which involves cleanser, toner, body butters and face masks. I have tried many new products this year but can't include every product so I have split it into categories...

Favourite Cleanser - Superdrug Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser
The cleanser of the year goes to the Superdrug Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser. This cleanser is creamy and dreamy. I have done a full review on this cleanser and I normally use it as a second cleanse. You also get a cloth included which I generally don't use but is still great quality. I would recommend this cleanser because its cheap and reliable.

Favourite Micellar Water - Ganier Miceallar Water
To do my first cleanse, I use my Micellar Water from Ganier which is amazing. I'm sure you have heard so many people raving about this micellar water and with good reason. It is gentle and gets rid of lip, eye and face make up without stinging.

Favourite Toner -  Simple Soothing Toner
Ever since I started using make up and skincare products, I have only used one toner and that is the Simple Soothing Toner and the main reason for this is because its alcohol free. I generally use toner after my cleanse to balance out the pH levels on my skin.

Favourite Eyecream - Simply Sensitive Eyecream (Boots)
The eye cream of the year goes to a Boots Own brand which is Simple Sensitive Eyecream. This stuff is amazing and very hydrating. I just apply it under and over the top of my eyes and it leaves the skin leaving soft and hydrated.

Favourite Moisturiser - Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturiser
This year I have tried many different moisturisers this year but the winner is the Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturiser. If you need a deep hydrating moisturiser, I would recommend this one as it is gentle yet hydrating and don't upset your skin.

Favourite Body Moisturiser - The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Body Butter
Body moisturising is something that I am very lazy with by when I do remember to apply something, I often reach for the The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Body Butter. This body butter smells heavenly and it keeps my skin hydrated and smooth.

Favourite Scrub - The Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Scrub
To get rid of all that dead skin (sounds wonderful, I know), I use a scrub and the scrub of the year goes to Soap & Glory in their Sugar Crush scent which everyone and their mother talks about. But seriously, it is such a good sugar scrub and leaves you and the whole bathroom smelling of fresh sweet lime.

Favourite Face Mask - Superdrug Simply Pure Cleansing Mask
The last thing is a face mask and comes from Superdrug. Their simply pure line is great for people with sensitive skin like me and I love their cleansing face mask which as the title suggests, gives my face a good old deep cleanse. This mask is cheap and works wonders and if you ask me, is worth a go.

Phew! That's a lot of skincare products and these are all my own thoughts and they work differently on your skin. I hope you are having a great new year and don't forget to follow me on twitter and bloglovin'!

What are your skincare favourites from 2014?
