March Favourites // 2015

Another month is coming to a close and you know what that means? March Favourites time! I normally say that the month flies by but March seemed to drag on and on. This may be due to the fact that I can't wait to go home at the end of March. Anyway this month I haven't really brought any new products as that student loan is quickly disappearing but I have still managed to pick out a few favourites from March...

Sleek 'Rose Gold'  Blusher
I'm sure I have talked about this product before but the Sleek Blush in 'Rose Gold' has been my go to blush for March. I have always loved this blush because it is the perfect pink colour with gold laced in. However I put it aside to make myself try other blushers but after a couple of months, I have gone back to it. I don't know whether its the appearance of the product but I can't help but continuously reach for it.

China Glaze 'Aquadelic'
When I talk about Nail Polishes it normally is  Barry M one but this month I have been loving China Glaze Nail Polishes. I don't normally talk about this brand much as I don't really own many shades from them but I have 'Aquadelic' which I have been obsessed with lately. It is a mix between mint green and blue and makes me feel like a mermaid. As the temperature is slowly rising and the sun is finally coming out, I thought why not crack out my spring nail colours.

Barry M 'Vintage Violet' Nail Polish
What would be a Monthly Favourite without the mention of a Barry M Nail Polish. On my toes, I have been wearing 'Vintage Violet' is a deep purple colour and kind of reminds of winter. I know, I am wearing spring on my nails and winter on my toes. Its the best of both worlds! I also know that I talk about Barry M Nail polishes a lot but at £2.99 per bottle, you won't find this great quality at a cheaper price.

Soap & Glory 'Butter Yourself'' Moisture  Lotion
I finally finished my Body Shop Body Butter and I started a new moisture lotion and that's where my next favourite comes in. I received the Soap and Glory 'Butter Yourself' Lotion back at Christmas but had other lotions to finish up first so I put it in a cupboard and forgot about it. However, since I have started using it, I have fallen in love. The fruity scent is heavenly and delightful and makes me look forward to moisturising. Who knew!

Tv Show - Forever
I have mentioned is in a previous post but it has honestly become my all time favourite show. Forever is basically a mixture between Sherlock Holmes and CSI: New York. Not to mention that the main character is very good looking which always helps. If you like detective drama shows with heart warming moments, I would highly suggest Forever.

These are just my thoughts and my favourites. I hope you have found this post useful and enjoyable. I hope you have had a wonderful month and that you have a even more wonderful April. Don't forget to follow me on bloglovin and twitter!

What were your favourites from March?

Max Factor Excess Shimmer 'Copper'

A couple weeks ago, I spotted this product in Tesco and I decided to try it out. You may have seen it a previous haul and it is the Max Factor Excess Shimmer in 'Copper'. This is totally a blogger purchase and the main reason for buying this creamy eyeshadow was to review. However it turns out I really love it and I love it even more when that happens.

The packaging is very similar to the Colour Tattoo by Maybelline as it comes in a glass pot with a lid. I would say the only different is that the Max Factor one is slightly taller and thiner rather than larger and shorter. I think the packaging is a great choice for a creamy eyeshadow but the fact that it is slightly taller than most other eyeshadow products makes it harder to store if you have acrylic drawers like me.

Although the product is a called 'Copper' it isn't copper at it. I would say it is more like a frosted bronze colour and very similar to Maybelline's On and On Bronze. However the Max Factor Excess Shimmer feels lighter and more liquidly. I would describe it as almost whipped cream mousse like texture. When I first swatched it, I got a shock because of how creamy it was and I was unsure of the lasting power. After a few minutes, I soon learnt that it dries to a matte finish but still comes off with make up remover easily.

I didn't need to worry about this lasting power because it is amazing. I normally always apply the Urban Decay Primer Potion before applying any other eyeshadow product regardless. But the other day for some reason I was in a rush and skipped the primer and went straight to the Excess Shimmer Cream Eyeshadow and I didn't noticed this until I was on the Bus into town. At this point I panicked but when I arrived back five hours later, I noticed that the Creamy Eyeshadow hadn't moved a bit. That's right, something stayed on my oily eyelids without a primer! Amazing!

If you suffer from oily eye lids like me  then I would seriously suggest you check these creamy eyeshadow pots out. I don't normally like everything about a certain product but this one is different and I can't seem to the find a problem with it and I am sure it will be around in my daily make up bag for months to come.

Have you tried this product before? What did you think?

Current Hairspiration

I'm getting to that point when my hair has grown out from its haircut and I don't really know what to do with my hair now. That's where my current hairspiration comes in. I love sitting on my phone and taking hours looking through different hairstyles. I am thinking about trying a shorter hairstyle but I thought I would show you what my hairspirations currently are...

What are your current hairspiration?

My Lazy Day Fitness Routine

I am trying my best to keep up a good fitness routine because one of my many new years resolutions is to be active and remain fit. I try to do a workout everyday and I try to do at least three or four longer and more intense workouts and then three slightly shorter and less intense workouts. I thought I would share my shorter fitness routine which I use for days when I haven't had time during the day or if I am having a lazy day and don't want to go to the gym or swimming pool.

On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays I do an hour of swimming which is at a high intensity. On Sundays I either drag myself to the gym or go out for a run. However during the days between them, I like to perform a quick fitness routine which requires no equipment and can be done in your living room. If your having one of those days when you can't motivate yourself to go the gym or if you only have 20 minutes to spare, this is the perfect routine for you...

30 Jumping Jacks

5 Pushups

25 High Knees

7 Burpees

10 Crunches

7 Squats

5 Pushups

10 Crunches

5 Pushups

7 Squats

30 Jumping Jacks

1 Minute Wall Sit

5 Pushups

25 High Knees

Repeat 3-5 Times

This is just my routine and may work differently for you. Remember everyone is different and I would suggest starting off at a lower intensity and don't forget to keep hydrated. I feel I should also mention that you should always do a warm up and cool down which should include stretches to avoid any injuries. I am not exercise expert but this is a routine which I found works well for me. This routine doesn't require a equipment however I personally use a yoga mat as it gives me more comfort and I find it hygienic. I hope you enjoyed this post and found it useful. Please feel free to leave any extra fitness tips you may have in the comments below.

What is your lazy day fitness routine?

My Favourite Ways To Relax

After a long day of lectures, essay writing and exam revision, I like to have a nice relaxing night. However I don't normally have the time to make a relaxing night but I do try to have at least one relaxing and stress-free night per week and often it happens on a Friday or Saturday night. I thought I would share with you my favourites way to relax and my favourite things to do. I always feel the need to have at least one night per week where I turn off my phone and just completely distress and not think about any thing work related...

Watch TV and Movies
One of my favourite things to do is to pop on a movie or tv show. I don't really know why I love it so much but it does make me relax and takes my mind off everything. I love to watch movies such as Mean Girls, Princess Diaries, The Notebook, Safe Haven or Pitch Perfect. Yes I am a typical girl who loves to curl up with a bowl of popcorn and watch movies. If you haven't got time to watch movies or prefer to watch TV then pop on a series of your favourite show. I personally love to watch reruns of One Tree Hill, The OC, Scandal and Grey's Anatomy.

Painting your Nails
I love painting my nails and I love having the perfect painted nails. If I'm having a relaxing night, I love to get all my nail polishes out and pick out the perfect colour. I have so many different colours that often just the task of deciding takes my mind of work. My personal favourites come from Essie, OPI, Rimmel and Barry M. Just the idea of having a bright and fun pop of colour on your nails must brighten up your mood.

Face Masks
I love having nice smooth, clean and clear skin but I never really have the time to do my normal quick skincare routine let alone apply and then rinse a face mark. Therefore during a relaxing evening, I like to crack out my selection of masks. I often use cleansing masks because they make my skin feel smooth or in the winter, a hydration mask. I find that hydration masks require longer because often they are leave on masks which need a good couple of hours to sink in. If your on a budget (like me!) then Superdrug do so many great masks.

Reading Books
At the end of the night I like to fully switch off and this includes my laptop and TV. This helps me to fully relax and switch off and I love to read a book right before I fall asleep. My favourite books are often love stories and one of my favourites author is Nicholas Sparks. If reading novels isn't really your thing, try a beauty or lifestyle book. I would suggest Lauren Conard's Beauty and Fleurdeforce's The Glam Guide. If your not a book reader, there are blogs or magazines.

After writing this, I now want a relaxing evening. These are just my ideas and thoughts and there are many other ways to relax but these just work well for me. If you have any tricks to help you relax, please leave them in the comments! Don't forget to follow me on bloglovin and twitter.

What's your favourite way to relax?

Boohoo Wishlist

Its that time again, when I go to check my bank balance and almost give myself a heart attack when I see it. Yep, that student loan is beginning to slowly run out and yet I still have the need to go and do a bit of online shopping. However because I will need food for the next couple of months, instead of buying all these items I have decided to create a wishlist so I can try to make you buy them. Your Welcome...

After creating this wishlist, I still feel the need to shop! It's an addiction! I hope you found this wishlist enjoyable and these are just my picks of outfits and of course, do feel free to click on the outfit of your choice and treat yourself to a new top, coat or playsuit! Don't forget to follow me on twitter and bloglovin!

What was your favourite outfit?

Maybelline Colour Tattoo 'Creamy Beige'

When you think of the Maybelline Colour Tattoos, I'm sure the first thing that pops into your mind will be 'On and On Bronze'. It is a great product and everyone talks and raves about it with good reason however because I use it almost everyday I felt the need to branch out and find a few other shades to try. If you regularly check this blog (thanks!), then you may have seen that a few weeks ago, I brought the Colour Tattoo in Vintage Plum which is a leather effect and I loved it. So when I was in Superdrug and I walked past the Maybelline stand I couldn't help but check out the Colour Tattoo selection and spotted 'Creamy Beige'. I don't know if its just me or if this is a fairly new edition in the UK but I did see Essiebutton talked about it a few months back.

As with the other colour tattoos, it comes in a glass pot and requires the lid to be screwed on tightly to ensure that the product doesn't dry out. The main reason as to why I was drawn to this is because I had heard it was a dupe for Mac's Groundwork Paint Pot and I had been thinking about trying the Mac Paint Pots for a while. I was quite shocked when I saw that Superdrug were selling this shade because I haven't really seen many of the Leather Effect Colour Tattoos around in the UK. However when I saw it, I knew straight away that I wanted it and had to search right to the back to find one that haven't been opened and used.

The product itself is a caramel tan hue shade and is also matte with just a hint of shimmer. This colour tattoo glides on perfectly and blends like a dream and I often use it over other eyeshadows. However I will say that I do use a primer before applying but again I always use a primer before applying any eyeshadow product regardless. One thing I love about this product is that if paired with any a glitter eyeshadow it is the perfect base but is also great when wearing it by itself. If I am having a lazy day I will apply some of this colour tattoo and blend it out and then I'm off.

The product isn't too sticky and when compared with the Colour Tattoo 'On and On Bronze' , it is less glittery and shimmery and is more natural. I do use 'On and On Bronze' so much however 'Creamy Beige' is fast becoming one of my favourites and I am not lying when I say I worn it five days in a row after I brought it. If that doesn't tell you how much I am in love with it, I don't know what will. If you happen to be passing a Superdrug in the next couple of days, check to see if they stock 'Creamy Beige' because its worth a try!

Have you tried this Colour Tattoo before? What did you think?

10 things that've made me happy this week #1

It has been an interesting week to say the least. Stress, crying, laughing and smiling have all occurred this week for a range of different reasons. As university is coming to a end for this year, the work load just seems to increase which in turn increases my stress levels. However I have an amazing set of friends and family who keep me relaxed. Has anyone else noticed the increase in temperature?! I can't wait for spring and summer. Bring it on. I love it. Anyway here is what has made me happy this week...

1. Coffee Afternoons. Me and a close friend have this thing where after our afternoon lectures, we will grab a coffee and sit and chat for hours. I love just chatting about the most random and funny things and it so relaxing. Sometimes all you need is a coffee and a friend.

2. Working out every day this week. I don't know how I am managing it but I am sticking with my routine and doing at least 25 minutes of exercise per day. This is the highlight of my week because now I know I can do it and I can feel myself slowly getting stronger.

3. Making the best Fried Rice. It is the little things in life that make me happy. A couple of weeks ago I tried to make fried rice and lets just say it went terribly wrong and I ended up ordering pizza. However I tried again this week and I ended up making the best fried rice ever!

4. Discovering Forever. Forever is my new favourite TV show. It is basically a cross over between CSI: New York and Sherlock Holmes and it is amazing. If you love a good drama show then I would suggest this.

5. Getting back into my blogging routine. I am finally getting back into my routine of blogging which feels great. I am writing one post per night and I took all of the photos on Sunday. I have so many ideas which I have written down and I can't wait to share them with you.

6. Reading More. Every night this week I have read at least one chapter which is great and very relaxing. I am currently reading The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks. It is such a romantic novel and is the perfect bedtime read.

7. Chocolate buttons Yoghurt. I treated myself to a chocolate yoghurt with chocolate buttons and let me tell you it tasted so good. I feel that every now and then it is ok to treat yourself to a special dessert. It motivates me to work harder and train harder because I know that at the end I have a amazing chocolate yoghurt.

8. Having the best talk with my mum. I had a mini breakdown during the week and had an hour long talk with my mum on the phone. There is honestly nothing better than chatting about nothing with the person who knows you best.

9. Mother's day gift shopping. I love celebrating my mum and shopping is no different. I can't wait to see what my mums expression is when she opens it. Exciting!

10. Maybelline The Falsies Mascara. I have recently gone back to this mascara and I forgot how amazing it is. The volume and length is unbelievable and I can't believe that I stopped using this mascara.

Those were 10 things which made me happy and smile this week. I love writing lists like this because it reminds me of the positive things which happened and keeps me thinking positively. I hope you enjoyed this type of post and don't forget to follow me on bloglovin and twitter!

What has made you happy this week?

Current Nail Polish Favourites

One thing I love to do when I am stressed out is have a quiet relaxing evening and this often consists of watching some TV series such as The OC or Scandal while painting my nails. I love painting my nails and if it didn't take so long and I had more time, I would paint my nails every night but of course if I had that much free time, I would have an issue. With my love for nail painting, comes my love for nail polishes and as I write this, I am staring at the two new nail polishes I have just brought (opps!). I can't help myself, whether I am just walking by a Boots or Superdrug or if I am doing my food shopping, I am bound to walk out with a nail polish of some type. With this in mind, I thought why not share my current favourite nail polishes...

(Left to Right: Rose Hip, Guava, Sugar Apple)

One of my favourite nail polish range comes from Barry M and is their Gelly Hi-Shine Polishes. I have talked about them so much and they are often featured in monthly favourites but these are my current top three. Rose Hip is a recent buy and I love it. I know its a bit early for Spring, but I feel that this may be the perfect spring colour. Rose Hip is a light baby pink colour and I love wearing it because it matches with almost any outfit. Guava is another recent buy but is fast becoming one of my all time favourites. I would describe this nail polish as a mix between blue and mint green and is a eye catcher. Sugar Apple is a nail polish which I have had for a while but I still love it and every time I wear it, I always get people coming up to me and saying how pretty it is. I would say it is a dupe for Essie's Mint Candy Apple.

(Left to Right: Raspberry, Berry Cosmo)

These are very different from the last three and I would describe these as more winter nail polishes. These are again from Barry M but are just their classic nail polishes which are just as good. I do love a good red nail polish and Raspberry doesn't disappoint. This nail polish has a slight dark pink tint to it but is still a true red colour. Berry Cosmo is a more deep purple colour and is also one of my favourites. The dark purple colour really matches with alot of different outfits and is a great change from Black which I used to wear all the time I swear!

(Left to Right: Red Passion, Loafer Love For You)

I don't really go to Max Factor when I am in search of nail polishes in Boots but when I was in tesco I while ago, I couldn't help but pop this red nail polish into the basket. I own loads of different red nail polishes but there is something different about this it. I like how bright it is and how it has a glossy finish and I have to mention that the lasting power of it is unlike anything else! There was a point a couple of years ago when I went through a Rimmel phase and only worn rimmel nail polishes but in recent years I haven't been as interested. However a couple of months back, I picked up Loafer Love For You and become addicted again. I love this colour because I feel it is the perfect blue colour and can be worn all year round.

All this nail polish writing makes me want to go and paint my nails again. I just love nail polishes. Anyone else with me here? I hope you liked my current favourites and found them interesting. These are just my picks and favourites and they work differently for you and there are many different nail polishes on the market. Don't forget to follow me on bloglovin and twitter!

What are your current nail polish favourites?

What's on my iphone?

Ever wanted to know what I have on my phone? Well your in luck because for this post I thought why not screenshot my phone and share with you guys what apps I have on my phone. I have never done one of these types of posts before because I haven't ever had an iphone but the other day I was very luckily gifted one by my lovely mum. I was so excited that I went and downloaded all the apps that I felt were important to me. These apps are just things that I feel I need and of course over time I will add more.

Home Page

Top Row: Calendar, Photos, Camera, Weather
Second Row: Clock, Maps, Videos, Notes
Third Row: Reminders Stocks, Passbook, iTunes Store
Below Row: App Store, Safari, Settings, Contacts

On my home page or first page however you look at it, I have the standard apps that come with every iphone. I have the calender that I have all of my important dates in such as exams and family events. Next to that is my photos which as a blogger is one of my favourite apps. Of course if there is a photo app and is bound to be a camera app near by or for me right next to it. I am always checking the weather to see what I can wear and the clock app is very important as it severs as my alarm. Maps, where would I be without this app and videos is another app which I use to look back at. Notes and reminders are great for me as I like to be organised and make lists. My four main apps at the bottom are my email, text messages, phone and music because these are most important to me and the ones I use most.

Second Page

Top Row: Voice Memos, FaceTime, Newsstand, Instagram
Second Row: Snapchat, Whatsapp, Skype, Pinterest
Third Row: Blogger, Calculator, Games Center, Compass
Wallpapers, Twitter, Facebook, Spotify

This is the most exciting page because it contains a lot of apps. I have a couple of more boring ones such as voice memos, newsstand, calculator, and compass but the more exciting ones are Instagram which I use to post pictures of new products I like and to keep up with other bloggers. My second row is one of my favourites which contains Snapchat that I use regularly to talk to friends around the world. Whatapps is another app and I love using this to talk to my friends in different countries. I don't really use Skype but still have it on there anyway. Pinterest, twitter and face book is used to promote my blog posts and blogger is used to read comments.

Third Page

Top Row: Youtube, Amazon, BBC news, My Fitness Pal
Second Row: Bloglovin, Blogilates

The last page only contains a few apps. I have Youtube which is basically my life. I love going onto Youtube on the morning and catching up with the newest videos. I order so many things from Amazon and love using the app to order phone cases, make up and brushes. I love catching up with the news from around the world which is why BBC News in on my phone. I have two fitness related apps which are My Fitness Pal and Blogilates and this is designed to try and get my to be a bit more active. The last app is Bloglovin which I use to check out other blogs.

This is my first iphone, so I didn't really know what apps to get so please do comment below if you have any suggestions of other apps to get. I hope you find this post useful and interesting. These are just my apps and don't forget to follow me on bloglovin and twitter to keep up to date.

What apps do you have on your phone?

My Weekly Obsessions #1

I thought that for today's post I would share with you the products that I have been obsessing over for the past week. I often do monthly favourites but I thought it would be interesting and fun to show you what make up items I have been using during this week because often my make up products change and I swap out the things I am using and replace them with new or different items. I picked my favourite nail polish combination from this week along with my choice of blusher and eyeshadow.

My nail polishes of choice for this week come from OPI Nicole 'Jade in the Shade' and Sinful 'Nail Junkie'. I can't wait for spring and summer to roll around so I am getting a head start and cracking out my spring nail polish colours. OPI 'Jade in the Shade' is a aqua blue colour with a hint of shimmer to it and I often refer to it as my mermaid nail colour. However I would say that, it requires three coats before it looks good. After this, I added Sinful 'Nail Junkie' which is a blue glitter nail polish and goes perfectly over the top. The combination of both of these nail polishes creates the perfect blue glittery mermaid spring colour.

I know I have written about this Colour Tattoo so many times before but this is honestly the eyeshadow product that I have used everyday this week. 'On and On Bronze' is the perfect everyday bronze base and is so easy to apply. When I was having lazy days I just applied this and left it however there was a couple of times when I applied another darker colour in the crease. If you have trouble with applying eyeshadow in general then I would suggest trying the Colour Tattoos from Maybelline as they require no brushes and are fall proof.

I have so many blushers which I could pick from but the one that I have reached for most this week has been Mac's 'Well Dressed'. I love wearing this Mac blusher because it is so natural and gives me the perfect flushed look. It doesn't contain any glitter or shimmer which is perfect for everyday use and the packaging draws me towards the product over others. There is something about the Mac packaging that makes it look sleek and more high end.

Those were my weekly obsessions and I hope you found them interesting and enjoyable. These are just my thoughts on the products and they may work differently for you. Don't forget to follow me on bloglovin and twitter to stay updated with future posts!

What were your weekly obsessions?

Sleek 'Oh So Special' Palette

When you think about drugstore palettes, people normally think Make Up Revolution or Make Up Academy. However one of my favourite brands for producing eyeshadow palettes has to be Sleek. About a year ago, I brought two eyeshadow palettes and a blush palette and haven't looked back since. If you are a regularly reader of this blog (thank you!) then you might know that I also recently brought some of their single blushers because I love them so much. I'm sure you can see from this that I really love Sleek as a company but especially their 'Oh So Special Palette'.

The Sleek Palettes are as the name would suggest, very sleek and come in sleek black packaging with a massive mirror which I personally love. The palette comes with 12 different shades some of which are matte and some are shimmery. I actually use the shimmery and glittery ones more than the matte ones but I think that this is just me and my decision and my need to be glittery. Moving on from that fact, I love this palette because it often a wide range of shades from a light pink perfect for highlighting to a black shade which is perfect for using as black liner.

(Top Row Right to Left: Bow, Organza, Ribbon, Gift Basket, Glitz, Celebrate)

I need to say sorry about the poor quality of these swatches but my camera just wasn't focusing and I couldn't figure out why but I really wanted to include some swatches so I used my iphone. The Photo above shows the swatches from the top row of the palette and although you may only be able to tell five swatches there are actually six but Bow, which is a very light almost white colour wouldn't show up when I tried swatching it. However as you can see the pigmentation is amazing and my favourite shades from the top row include Organza, Gift Basket and Glitz.

(Bottom Row Right to Left: Pamper, Gateau, The mail, Boxed, Wrapped Up , Noir)

As you may you be able to see, the matte shades have very good pigmentation as well as the shimmers. My favourite shades from the bottom row include Gateau, The Mail, Bored and Wrapped Up. I don't ever really use Noir as I prefer to use a liquid liner. I have to admit that these eyeshadows are very pigmented as previously stated but are also buttery and very blend-able. When I pick a palette to take with me on holiday or trip, I almost always turn to this one because the shade range is so big and the quality is so great but yet doesn't cost a lot either.

Overall I would say this is a perfect palette for those who are starting out in Make Up and Beauty but want something more than the Make Up Revolution palettes and something that looks sleek and is of great quality. These are just my thoughts and this palette may work differently for you and don't forget to stay updated on this blog by following me on bloglovin and twitter!

Have you tried this palette before? What did you think about it?
