Updated Skincare Routine | 2015

I recently changed and mixed up my skincare routine as I didn't feel that my previous routine was removing my make up in the best way and make my skin looked dull and boring. Because of this, I spend a couple of days researching and walked out of Boots with a bag full of new products to test out. My main problem I was having, was finding products that my sensitive skin wouldn't reaction badly to while still cleansing my skin and I thought I would share my step by step evening routine.

The first thing I do when it comes to the end of the day, is to remove my make up with the Super Facialist Vitamin C Skin Renew Cleansing Oil. I was nervous about using a cleansing oil as I generally have oily skin but I have since fallen in love with this product. This cleansing oil removes make up like nothing else I have ever used as it is so easy and makes taking waterproof liner and mascara off so simple and quick. However if you can't stand the smell of oranges, I would recommend trying the body shop alternative.

After using a cleansing oil to remove the main bulk of the make up, I use the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water on a cotton pad to get rid of any lipstick as I normally wear a bright lipstick colour with a matte formula. I used to use this micellar water to remove all my make up but noticed that my foundation was still on my face and found that this micellar water didn't work as well as a primary remover.

When all the make up has been removed off my face, I go in with the Avene Gentle Gel Cleanser which is my favourite skincare product at the moment. I heard about this brand from Essiebutton as she said that it was brilliant for sensitive skin. This gel cleanser really cleans and cleansers my skin and leaves it feeling smooth and very soft. The smell of this product is very faint and not strong which I like and the formula really calms my skin. If you are struggling with sensitive skin, I would highly recommend trying this gel cleanser.

After my skin is fully cleansed, I reach for the Simple Soothing Facial Toner on a cotton pad and wipe it over my face to remove any cleanser still remaining on the skin and to even out the ph levels. I have used this toner for the past couple of years and I know not everyone believes that a toner does anything but I find this product soothing and refreshing.

Lastly, I apply my Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturiser which is my all time favourite moisturiser as it is so thick but still sinks into the skin quickly and feels the skin feeling hydrated and feeling smooth and soft. I found that this moisturiser doesn't react with my skin and is the best one I have found from the drugstore for sensitive skin.

What skincare products are your currently using?

  3. I've tried skipping toner before, but I find that I always come back to using one. I've been using the Clinique Take the Day Off cleansing oil because I read that it doesn't actually have oil in it. I usually avoid Clinique as I've found their toners too harsh, but their cleansing 'oil' was a pleasant surprise.
