February Favourites | 2016

Its that time of the month when I round up my favourites of the last 29 days. Normally I talk about my favourite make up items but this month I only have body products which I didn't do on purpose I have just been discovering new and different body products rather than make up. Here are a few of my stand out favourties...

The Body Shop Blueberry Body Butter - Back in January, The Body Shop were having an 80% off sale and I picked up this body butter during my order. I am a massive fan of the body butters from The Body Shop and this scent is very sweet and sharp at the same time and hydrates my skin. I have been enjoying using this body butter at night as it leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth.

The Body Shop Vineyard Peach Shower Gel - Another item I picked up in the sale from The Body Shop was the Vineyard Peach Shower Gel. I am personally not fussy when it comes to shower gels but its the scent that really attracted me to the product. The sweet peach smell lingers around after using it and lasts for ages.

Calmex Lip Balm - I have always used the Nivea Lip Butters but recently I found it wasn't working so I tried out a lip balm from Calmex. This lip balm is amazing and is soft and smooth and leaves a tingling feeling on the lips. I normally apply the lip balm before going to sleep and wake up to hydrated lips. If your in the market for a new lip moisturiser, I would recommend trying this one.

Garnier Ultimate Blends The Strength Restorer - The one hair product that I have been in love with recently has been this strengthening treatment from Garnier. This product is amazing at giving more strength to my hair and also leaves my hair softer and easier to brush through.

Essie Nail Polish 'Leggy Legend' - Over the last few weeks I ended up buying more and more nail polish. There are have been so many different shades that have caught my eye. However the one shade that tops the others is this bronze copper shade from Essie. This stunning colour is shimmery and beautiful and only requires one coat to give an opaque finish.

TV & Music Favourites - If there is one TV show that I have been watching non stop, it would be Chicago Fire. Not only are the story lines gripping but there are also very cute guys. In terms of music, I have been listening to 25 by Adele all day and every day and singing along much to my neighbours enjoyment I'm sure.

What have you been loving during the month of February?

Freedom Pro 12 Eyeshadow Palette | Audacious 3

Freedom Make up is a brand that I have recently been trying out and the latest product is their pro 12 eyeshadow palette in audacious 3. The shades in this palette are rose gold toned and are housed in square pans. The packaging of this eyeshadow palette is fairy basic as it only cost £4 but the actual eyeshadows have a slightly more high end look to them and look similar to the Nars Dual Intensity Shadows. I personally find that it give it more of a fancy feel.

The texture of the eyeshadows are soft and buttery but some are chalky when swatched which can lead to a bit of fall out below the eyes. However saying this the pigmentation for most of the eyeshdaows is very intense and bold but I will mention that a couple of the lighter shades from the top row are not as pigmented as the bolder darker shades. In terms of wear time I would say that it does require an eye primer as creasing does occur but I normally always wear some type of base underneath all eyeshadows anyway. My favourites shades are the gold and pink toned ones which pair well with a berry or nude lip.

Essence Lip Liners | First Impressions

For years and years I never bothered with lip liners as I didn't see the point to using them. I'm guessing this is because I didn't understand what they did. However over the past couple of weeks, I have become obsessed lip liners and the first place I went to buy some was Wilko to the Essence stand. I had heard a couple of bloggers talking about these lip liners and I thought I would give you my options about them.

I picked up three of their regular lip liners in the shades 'Satin Mauve ', 'Cute Pink' and 'Red Blush'. I was originally looking for their creamy long lasting liners but couldn't find them so ended up trying out their regular ones. The texture of these lip liners is fairly dry and takes some pressure to achieve good pigmentation which was slightly disappointing. I would say that 'Red Blush' is my favourite as it is the easiest to apply. However these lip liners do seem to cling to dry areas and patches of the lips so you will definitely need to scrub and prepare your lips before hand.

However I will say that the lasting power is great but it does take a while to apply on the lips. But for £1 per lip liner, the packaging isn't anything fancy either. Overall I would say that even though it is a bargain, there are definitely other better more creamy and long lasting lip liners in the drugstore.

H&M Cream & Powder Eyeshadows

When H&M relaunched their make up range back in 2015, everyone went crazy for it and reviews popped up everywhere. Although I wrote about their eyeshadow palette back in September, I have just got round to trying some more of their products and for this post I thought I would write about my impressions of their cream and powder eyeshadows.

The powder eyeshadow I picked up was in the shade 'Mojave' which I would describe as a purple champagne shimmer shade. I personally use this eyeshadow when I am going for a natural make up look as it gives the eye lids a little bit of definition. The texture is fairy soft but is slightly chalky which does lead to some occasional fall out but blends wonderfully into the lids. The pigmentation is fairy strong but can still be built up to an intense look.

I also picked up a cream eyeshadow in Sirocco which is a deep chocolate brown shade. The eyeshadow has a whipped mousse texture to it which dries to a matte finish and has a very strong pigmentation to it which makes it ideal to wear on its own. I personally love wearing this cream eyeshadow with a black liner and as it gives a slightly darker smoky look. The only thing I would say is that, you may find that you need to blend out the eyeshadow out quickly as it does dry soon after being applied to the lids.

A lot of people have commented on the packaging as it does feel fairly light and cheap but I personally don't mind the packaging as it does make the make up look more high end and the actual products are of very good quality. I will add that the cream eyeshadow comes in a glass pot which feels heavy and more substantial. Overall I feel that these products are worth picking up as they have great pigmentation and don't cost a fortune.

My Favourite Bloggers

There are so many amazing beauty blogs out there and I remember being overwhelmed at the amount of talented bloggers that I came across and so I thought for this post I would spread some love and talk about my favourite bloggers.

Couture Girl -  Kayleigh's amazing blog was one of the first ones that I ever read and came across and was drawn to the writing style as well as content. I just felt that I could relate to her story about battling anxiety and shared the passion for everything beauty. Even to this day, I still love scrolling through her blog.

Kate Le Vie - Kate's blog was another early find and I was blown away by her stunning photography skills and how funny and relatable she sounds. One of my favourite sections of her blog would be her travel posts particularly her advise about travelling and seeing the world on a budget. If your a fan of travelling, I would recommend checking her blog out.

RosyChicc - Andrea's blog is a more recent find but is quickly becoming one of my favourites and contains some amazing photos. She does great reviews and swatches of a range of different make up items and I always check out her blog if I am interested in buying a product.

From Roses - If there is one blog that I check out and read everyday it would be this one. Rebecca's blog contains beauty, style as well as lifestyle which I personally love. She creates some great posts about dealing with a range of issues and problems. If your ever looking for a new blog to inspire you I would suggest this one.

Ash Bam - Another wonderful blog which contains some amazing reviews and has an amazing writing style. One of my favourite things to do is to curl and scroll through her blog looking for new products and reading the reviews. Ashley's blog has a great format and is an amazing read.

There are so many amazing bloggers out there that I admire and look up to many of who inspired me to start blogging. If I could include the huge volume bloggers that I follow on bloglovin because I love supporting other bloggers then I would but then we would be here for days. So to all those bloggers cheers...

Who are your favourite bloggers?

Maybelline The Nudes | Eyeshadow Palette

My weakness is eyeshadow palettes and I own way to many but recently I spotted the Maybelline The Nudes Palette and couldn't help but pick it up. There are so many different palettes in the drugstore nowadays but I still felt the need to try it out because it contains so many amazing neutral shades. The packaging of this palette is very sleek and looks more high end and houses 12 eyeshadows some of which are matte as well as shimmery.

(Top Row )

As you can see from the swatches above, some shades are more pigmented than others. The third shade along has hardly pigmentation at all whereas the fourth shade has unbelievable pigmentation. The texture is soft and buttery which makes it easy to blend into the eye lids.

(Bottom Row)

The bottom row is more pigmented and contains more warm toned shades which I personally prefer. The longevity of the eyeshadows are fairy impressive for the drugstore although I do normally wear an eye primer to increase the intensity and staying power. Overall I would say that for £7.99 this palette is a great drugstore option if your in the market for a natural eyeshadow palette.

Have you tried this palette before? What did you think?
