May Favourites | 2016

I can't believe that its May Favourites time because it means summer is here and the end of another university year has arrived. I'm slightly worried about where the year has gone because I swear it was Christmas just yesterday. Anyway my favourites this month includes a cleanser, base as well as lip products and nail polishes.

The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter - £13
Over the last couple of months, I have been trying a range of different skincare products but one that stood out more than the others is this cleansing butter from The Body Shop. This butter has a soft balm texture to it and is used to remove my make up and is my first cleanse in my routine. This balm leaves the skin feeling clean yet hydrated and smooth.

Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream 'Ivory' - £10
I don't normally wear foundation as I find them heavy and sticky on my skin so I often wear tint moisturisers to provide coverage. However when I spotted this CC cream I thought I would give it a go and it has become my base of choice. It has a light feel and texture and doesn't sink into the pores while still giving a medium coverage.

Kiko Creamy Colour Comfort Lip Liner '314' - £5.90
If there is one product I have used almost everyday, it would be this lip liner. This pink berry toned lip liner is very creamy and glides onto the lips smoothly and lasts all day. Although this is a darker shade, I like to apply it under most lip products as it makes almost every lip product layered over the top last longer.

Rimmel Provocalips '730 Make Your Move' - £6.99
The only other lip product I have been wearing is this nude matte liquid lipstick from Rimmel. I prefer liquid lipsticks as they last longer and this lipstick is very pigmented. This nude brown shade is ideal for everyday use. The only issue I have with this product is that it can take a while to remove but cleansing oil helps to speed up the process.

The last favourite of mine is mint green nail polishes and I have three different nail polishes all of which have similar shades. The Maybelline Super Stay Nail Polish in 'Mint For Life' is a true mint green colour while the Barry M Jelly Hi Shine Nail Polish in 'Sky Blue' is more blue toned. Another wonderful mint green shade is Essie's Parka Perfect which is more muted green colour and contains shimmer particulars.

My Favourite Youtubers

If there is one thing that I can do all day without getting bored, it would be watching YouTube videos. There are so many amazing channels that create content and believe me there is an area on YouTube for everyone. As a beauty addict, I watch a lot of beauty hauls and videos but I recently have found a new interest for a range of other channels and I thought I would share them with you.

My first favourite is 'Meg Says' who talks all things beauty and make up. I love the way she describes products and her unboxing and first impression videos are my personal favourite. If you looking for a youtuber who is as cute as a button and loves make up and skincare than Meg is the person for you.

Next up is the channel called 'This Gathered Nest' which is about motherhood, adoption, and beauty. I can't explain how much I like watching the vlogs from this channel as it is about a family of seven that it are very similar to mine. I think I like these videos as I can relate to them because I come from a family of seven and I often miss them when I am at university.

One area that I have recently become obsessed with is the planner organisation of Youtube. I hadn't previously been aware of this area but have since become addicted to watching Plan With Me videos. Jenna Rose creates amazing Plan With Me videos that are very chatty and relaxing to watch. If your into planning and stickers, this is the channel for you.

The last channel is my favourite and most watched and is Miss Budget Beauty. I love watching beauty videos but as a student I can't afford high end make up so this channel combines both beauty and budget friendly products and is perfect for me. Miss Budget Beauty posts videos containing hauls, make up collections as well as reviews and first impressions.

Everyday Neutral Eyeshadows

One of my favourite make up products to play around with is eyeshadows. I love wearing different colours and shades of eyeshadows from sparkly slivers to dark smoky purples but for day to day life, I normally turn towards neutral eyeshadows. I find that neutral eyeshadows are more appropriate for daily life and work. Because I wear neutral toned shades regularly, I own quite a few and I thought I would share them with you.

One of my favourite neutral eyeshadows are pearly pink champagne shades as they give the eye lids definition and a blogger favourite would be Mac's All That Glitters. Everyone raves about this eyeshadow and with good reason as it glides across the eyes perfectly and looks natural. Another option is Urban Decay's Toasted which is similar to the Mac eyeshadow but has a more bronze tone to it. The Rosie For Autograph Eyeshadow Palette in 'I Feel Like a Million Dollars' also contains stunning neutral champagne colours particularly the shade on the top left.

As well as champagne shades, I adore light brown shades as it gives the eye lids depth and creates a shadow, giving more definition. One of my light brown eyeshadows is the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in 'Creamy Beige' which has a cream formula and works well as a base too. The Nars Duo Eyeshadow in 'Portobello' which contains two very natural light brown and taupe shades blends well into the eye lids getting them a more natural appearance and look.

What are your favourite everyday neutral eyeshadows?

Lip Liners On a Budget

For years and years I didn't really see the point in wearing lip liners as I don't think I really understood what it was designed to do. However these days, I never go without lip liner as it makes my lipstick last longer. When researching lip liners to buy, most bloggers and youtubers recommend high end brands such as Charlotte Tilbury and Clarins but as a university student I haven't got the budget for them. Because of this, I have been trying out a range of different lip liners and have found a few great lip liners on a budget.

The first liner I tried out was from Essence in 'Cute Pink' which has a drier chalky texture that makes lipstick last longer. However the quality of the lip liners varies and can be hit and miss as well as drying out the lips but for a £1 you can't really complain. Another budget lip liner is from Primark in a dark brown shade that has a creamier feel and stronger pigmentation but isn't as long lasting.

The Maybelline Coloursensational Lip Liner in 'Pleasure Me Red' is one of my favourites and has a very creamy texture and could be worn by itself and has great lasting power. The shade range of these Maybelline liners is amazing and the pigmentation is very strong and they glide onto the lips smoothly. The Max Factor Colour Elixir Lip Liner in 'Brown & Bold' has a similar texture but isn't as long lasting and begins to fade after a couple of hours.

A lip liner that every blogger raves about is the Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in 'Eastend Snob' which is a pinky nude colour that glides smoothly and has a thicker texture to it and makes lip products last longer. The last lip liner comes from Kiko and is the Creamy Colour Comfort Lip Liner in 'Marsala' which is a deeper plum colour more ideal for autumn than summer with a very creamy and soft texture and that lasts all day and feels comfortable on the lips.

What are your favourite lip liners? Have you tried these ones before?

The Skincare Shake Up | May

A couple of months back at Easter, my skin decided to become completely dry and very sensitive and I tried every skincare product I had and nothing worked. After weeks and weeks of not knowing what to do with my red itchy face, I decided to place an order on The Body Shop of some products that Caroline Hirons suggested. I wasn't sure about The Body Shop skincare but after changing up my skincare routine, my skin has never looked better so I thought I would share them with you.

For my morning routine I decided to pick up a cream cleanser and a day moisturiser. The first step is to use The Body Shop Vitamin E Cream Cleanser to wash my face. I have tried many different types of cleansers but with my dry and sensitive skin I have found that cream and balm cleansers work the best for me. This cream cleanser smells very fresh which is ideal for the morning and refreshes and cleans my skin. After this, I use the The Body Shop Aloe Soothing Moisture Lotion SPF 15 as my day moisturiser as it has SPF in which is perfect for the spring and summer months.

When the end of the day rolls around the first thing on my mind is removing my make up and to do that I have The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter. This cleansing butter has a balm texture to it and melts onto the skin, dissolving all the make up before being removed with a face cloth run under warm water. I find that removing make up this way is quick and very effective. Once I removed the make up, I go in with a second cleanse and use The Body Shop Aloe Calming Cream Cleanser, which is gentle on the skin. This second cleanse cleans the skin and removes any left over product and dirt. Finally I apply The Body Shop Aloe Soothing Night Cream to hydrate my skin and leaves the skin feeling smooth and soft.

I didn't mean for this to become a post all about The Body Shop Skincare but I couldn't help it as they have some amazing products. As a university student, I couldn't afford skincare that had a high price tag which was why I struggled so much but The Body Shop have some amazing skincare picks that are fairly cheap and they often have 40% off deals as well! Overall, I'm happy with my skincare routine and my skin has never looked healthier. These products work well for me but they may work differently for everyone else.

Have you tried skincare products from The Body Shop before? What did you think?

Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream

If I'm being honest I wasn't sure about CC creams when they first hit the market. I mean I like BB creams and wear them more than foundations but CC creams really? However over the last couple of months I have spotted more and more bloggers talking about the Bourjois 123 Perfect CC cream and I was in need of a new foundation so I thought why not try it.

The shade I picked up was '31 Ivory' which I believe is the lightest shade. I didn't really know what to expect when I tried this product but the texture was surprising light and applied wonderfully with my Real Techniques Expect Face Brush. However one thing I noticed was that it was a drier texture and did cling to a couple of dry areas on my face. In terms of coverage I would say it is a light to medium finish and blurs out imperfections rather than covering them up completely. After applying the CC cream, it generally dries to a semi matte finish as it isn't completely matte but does stick to drier areas.

The packaging is fairly simple and effective but a pump would be more helpful. One thing that may occur is product pouring out of the tube if you store it upside down , therefore I try to store it upwards. The scent of this CC cream is very fresh and baby powder like which I personally adore. Overall I would say that this is a great base product from Bourjois and is perfect for the spring and summer as it gives that light weightless to the make up while still staying matte.

Have you tried this product before? What did you think?

Kiko Long Lasting Eyeshadow Sticks

A couple of weeks ago I went to London and came across a Kiko store and I couldn't help myself but pick up a few items and these included eyeshadow sticks. Prior to going to London I knew that I might have a chance to go to Kiko so I did a bit of research and came across some rave reviews about the eyeshadows sticks so I picked up two. When it comes to eyeshadows, I am a massive fan of cream formulas as I feel they last longer and are easier to apply.

As soon as I spotted the eyeshadow sticks I was stuck with the problem of choosing what shades to buy. However after about 10 minutes of swatching every colour, I ended up with two neutral shades which were '05 Rosy Brown' and '38 Golden Taupe'. The formula of the eyeshadow sticks is very creamy, blend-able and buttery. The pigmentation is unbelievable and applies across the lid of the eyes evenly. Once the eyeshadow has been applied, it needs to be blended out quickly as once it sets it does not move or crease. The longevity of the eyeshadow stick is amazing and works well as a eye base.

These eyeshadow sticks are fairly cheap at £6.90 each when compared to other eyeshadow sticks on the market. I tried the No7 Eyeshadows sticks last year and these reminded me of them but I find that these ones blend more easily and feel softer. Overall I would say that these eyeshadows are amazing and are perfect for people like me who like a quick easy eyeshadow application and I will definitely be adding more to my collection.

Have you tried these eyeshadow sticks before?

Met Gala Ball 2016 | My Favourites Dresses

One of my favourite ways to get inspiration for my style is by taking inspiration from Celebrities and when pictures of the Met Gala Ball dresses popped up on twitter I couldn't help but check out the beautiful dresses. As I was checking the dresses I thought why not create a post about my favourites dresses and looks from the Met Gala Ball...

April Favourites | 2016

I didn't think I had time to write a post this weekend but then I remembered that its almost May and that calls for a monthly favourites so here it goes. I still can't believe that April is over and that spring is upon us. For this months favourites I have picked a couple of face products as well as eyeshadows and a lip crayon.

Nars Eyeshadow Duo 'Demon Lover' - One eyeshadow duo that I have been rocking recently has been this colourful set from Nars. I found this duo from TK Max a couple of months back and have been wearing the darker purple shade as a eye liner shade. The blue and purple shades may not be the normal colours I wear but I still like the texture of the eyeshadows.

Mac Single Eyeshadow 'Wow Factor' - I featured this light purple eyeshadow from Mac in a recent haul and have been applying it across the eye lids. This light purple shade is ideal for spring and creates a lovely light natural look.

Sleek Face Contour Kit 'Light' - I haven't previously been a big fan of contour kits as I personally don't contour but rather apply bronzer to the areas where the sun naturally hits. However when I spotted this contour kit in Superdrug I couldn't help but pick it up as the bronzer is a lovely shade to bronze with.

Max Factor Creme Puff Blush 'Gorgeous Berries' - When these blushers first launched I couldn't see the hype of them but after swatching this shade in Superdrug I was blown away. The pigmentation is unbelievable and has a soft texture to it that blends into the skin perfectly. I will say that the shade is very bold but I am planning to head back to Superdrug and pick up a more spring like shade.

Rimmel Colour Rush Intense Colour Balm 'Rumour Has It' - The final product comes from Rimmel and is a berry red lip crayon. Normally I avoid lip crayons as they don't last long on my lips but this one seems to last longer than others and has strong colour payoff and has a vanilla scent to it as well.

What have your April Favourites been?
